Psalm 17

There is a tribe of many members.........boding deep within.

Aka: flesh, which confers.........then invades the realm of sin.

They wish to "carpe diem" breath by breath the moments of my life.

Deftly chiseling thorny topiaries into misshapen fruitless strife.

Some they carve large............others just a trifle;

Inflicting wounds fiercer than any knife will.

Carnivores of shadowlands...........seeking whom to bite!

Open sores in fallow hands..........reeking from lack of insight.

They want only to divide and conquer the sum of my being.

Once entangled, entrapped........there's slim hope of freeing

Myself from these voracious phantasmal creatures,

But a prayer fuels faith, and I summon the Great Teacher's

Words.........He spoke to revive,  restore..........relieve.

I could grapple my freedom.........if I'd only believe!

Rather than be captive to sin............& just trudge along,

Condemning my contrite conscience..........must" judge" my wrong,

I choose to repent, rejoice before my redeemer with a new song!

So if you'll forgive an adolescent expression of fools:

My conclusive allegation:  Flesh drools..........Spirit rules!

***

A SEA OF DARKNESS CAN SUMMON SENSATIONS INSECURE.

THAT LEAVE YOU FALTERING, FLOUNDERING IN FRIGHT.

BUT EVENING SHADOWS CAN BECOME A HOPEFUL HARBINGER

OF THE RAPTURE WHICH BREAKS FORTH AT FIRST LIGHT.

FOR THE DARKNESS CAN BIRTH YOU TO A CELESTIAL APERTURE:

A CACHE OF TRUST NOT KNOWN BEFORE.

AND THE WEARY WORLD COULD USE A SEASONED CONNOISSEUR,

AN OVERCOMING VOYAGER......................

WHOSE TOUCH MAKES THEM CRY  ENCORE! ENCORE! ENCORE!

What could transpire if my courage matched my desire?

What would be attained if our courage was not feigned?
